Machining Test Bars on Request | MOQ from 10 kg | ISO 9001 & SGS Certified
Overview
A machining trial is the fastest way to qualify bar stock. Machinable pure nickel bar and rod in Ni200 (UNS N02200), Ni201 (UNS N02201), N4 and N6 is supplied annealed — a uniform, work-free structure that cuts predictably — with 8, 10, 12 and 20 mm diameters in stock and other sizes from 3-300 mm per drawing. Request a machining test bar, run it at your feeds and speeds, and check the finish before you order production quantities. MOQ from 10 kg, mill test certificates on every lot.
What Pure Nickel Resists — and What It Does Not
Selection starts with an honest corrosion picture. Pure nickel is specified for what it does best: unexcelled resistance to caustic alkalis (sodium and potassium hydroxide at high concentrations and temperatures), strong behavior in reducing media, and stability in electrochemical service. It is not a general acid material: oxidizing acids such as nitric acid attack nickel rapidly, and aerated chloride or seawater service risks pitting — those environments belong to nickel alloys or other families, and we will say so when you send the media. If your process runs caustic, reducing or electrochemical conditions, pure nickel bar is a documented choice; for anything else, confirm the media and temperature with us first.

Technical Details
Machinability in Practice
Pure nickel machines differently from steel: it is ductile and can produce a long, gummy chip, so the practical recipe is sharp tooling, positive rake and adequate lubrication rather than aggressive speeds. Annealed bar removes that variable — a soft, uniform, work-free structure cuts consistently, holds dimensions and leaves a clean finish. If your part calls for tight tolerances or automated cycles, the consistency of the annealed lot matters as much as the grade, and it is the same lot-to-lot.
Machining Test Bars and Trial Orders
Qualification does not need a full batch. Request a machining test bar, cut it at your parameters, and confirm chip behavior, surface finish and tolerance before you commit. Trial orders start at 10 kg, and the drawing-and-quantity quote locks grade, diameter, surface and delivery date up front — the bar that passes your trial is the bar that arrives in production.
Carbon, Machining and Service Life
Within the pure nickel family, carbon level is the selector. Ni200 (C ≤0.15%) is the general machining grade for chemical and mechanical duty; Ni201 (C ≤0.02%) is the low-carbon choice when parts will see sustained service above 315°C; N6 and N4 add progressively higher purity (≥99.5% and ≥99.9% Ni+Co) where purity drives the specification. All four are stocked in the same diameters — see the Pure Nickel Series for the full grade map.
From Bar to Finished Part
Annealed bar turns, mills, drills and welds with matching filler, and cold working or heat treatment can shift strength against ductility for the finished part. Confirm the machined tolerance and surface against the as-supplied condition (black, peeled, polished or cold drawn) when you order, and the bar arrives matched to the process rather than requiring rework to get there.

Annealed bar: tensile strength ≥462 MPa, 0.2% yield strength ≥148 MPa, elongation ≥35%, hardness 90-120 HB. Physical constants: density 8.908 g/cm³, melting point 1435-1446°C, electrical resistivity 0.096 μΩ·m, thermal conductivity (Ni200) 70.2 W/m·K, magnetic (ferromagnetic below Curie point 358°C).
Quality Assurance
Produced under ISO 9001 quality systems and SGS-verified processes, each bar batch passes chemical composition analysis and dimensional and surface inspection before packing. Mill test certificates (EN 10204 3.1) record the actual lot composition and mechanical properties, and every bar carries melt and lot traceability.
Applicable Standards
Ni200/Ni201: ASTM B160 (Nickel Rod and Bar). N4/N6: GB/T 4435 (Nickel and Nickel Alloy Bars). Export documentation per EN 10204 3.1.
References
Material data follows ASTM B160 and GB/T 4435; corrosion and machining guidance references the Nickel Institute, ASM Specialty Handbook: Nickel, Cobalt, and Their Alloys, and machinability handbooks for nickel alloys; batch-level composition is verified against mill test certificates (EN 10204 3.1) and in-house inspection records.
Packaging & Delivery
Bar is supplied in bundles with protective wrapping, packed in export wooden cases, and labeled with grade, size, surface and weight. Worldwide shipping is quoted per destination. In-stock diameters dispatch in 3-7 days, standard production in 7-15 days, and custom sizes in 15-30 days per drawing. Payment by L/C, T/T, Western Union or MoneyGram.
About DZX Alloy
DZX Alloy has supplied nickel-based materials from Jiangsu, China since 2002, under ISO 9001 and SGS quality systems. The bar program is run for machine shops: annealed stock in four grades, machining test bars for parameter verification, and drawings quoted with grade, surface and delivery confirmed before scheduling — so a shop qualifying a new material spends its time on the trial, not on the procurement. Export experience across 60+ countries keeps the same grades and tolerances available for repeat runs.
