Overview

Aerospace, power generation, chemical processing and marine service all punish materials with corrosion and heat at once — industrial nickel wire is specified across all four because its resistance is inherent to the metal, not carried by a coating. Drawn from 0.025 mm to 10 mm with a face-centered cubic structure, the wire is supplied in Ni200, Ni201, N4 and N6 grades covering ≥99.0% to ≥99.9% nickel. Micro wire is available from 1 kg, standard wire from 5 kg, with L/C, T/T, Western Union and MoneyGram accepted.

Pure Nickel vs Stainless and Coated Wire

In marine and chemical service, stainless steel wire relies on a passive oxide film that breaks down in reducing media and chloride-rich environments, while nickel-plated wire depends on the integrity of its plating layer. Solid pure nickel wire carries no film and no plating: its corrosion resistance is a property of the metal itself, so cut ends, edges and weld zones keep the same resistance as the as-drawn surface. That is why pure nickel wire keeps appearing in pumps, valves, heat exchangers and marine components where coated or filmed materials fail at the cut.

Key Strengths

  • Inherent corrosion resistance for chemical, marine and aerospace duty — no film, no plating to wear away.

  • Face-centered cubic structure giving ductility, toughness and consistent forming and welding.

  • Grade-matched purity from N4 ≥99.9% to Ni200/Ni201 ≥99.0-99.2%, with carbon limits per grade.

  • High melting point (1435-1446°C) for aerospace and power generation service.

  • Flexible order terms — MOQ from 1 kg (micro wire), payment by L/C, T/T, Western Union or MoneyGram.

Technical Details

FCC Ductility and Toughness in Service

Nickel crystallizes in a face-centered cubic (FCC) lattice, and the structure is what gives the wire its ductility and toughness: multiple slip systems let the metal deform plastically instead of cracking, so the wire draws, bends and welds reliably, and components made from it survive vibration and thermal cycling. The same lattice explains the ferromagnetic response — nickel is ferromagnetic up to its Curie point of 358°C, relevant wherever wire sits near sensors or magnetic circuits.

Corrosion in Aerospace, Power and Marine Environments

The wire appears in aerospace components for its oxidation resistance at elevated temperature, in power generation for heat and corrosion stability, and in chemical processing and marine equipment for resistance to corrosive media. In each case the corrosion profile is set by the metal itself, so cut ends and weld zones behave like the as-drawn surface. For specific media, confirm operating temperature and concentration against your process conditions — the mill certificate records the actual lot composition.

Purity by Grade: What 99.9% Means for Your Wire

Purity is grade-dependent, not a single figure: N4 (≥99.9% Ni+Co) is the highest-purity designation, followed by N6 (≥99.5%), Ni201 (≥99.0%, C ≤0.02%) and Ni200 (≥99.2%, C ≤0.15%) — all four sit in Pure Nickel Series. Specify the grade against the duty: research and vacuum service take N4; general industrial use takes N6; low-carbon welding-sensitive joints take Ni201; standard mechanical and electrical duty takes Ni200. Buying "99.9%" across the board over-specifies the price as well as the purity.

Industry Application Matrix: Batteries to Aerospace

For battery tabs and electronic components, specify Ni201 or N4 where low carbon and high purity protect weld quality. For chemical pumps, valves and heat exchangers, N6 or Ni200 balance corrosion resistance with cost. For aerospace and power generation service, N4 or N6 take the elevated-temperature duty. Confirm grade, diameter, temper and quantity against your drawing — the mill certificate records the actual lot composition of every spool.

Pricing

Wire is priced by grade, FOB USD/kg: N4 $420-480, Ni201 $350-390, Ni200 $340-380, N6 $300-340. Micro wire (≤0.05 mm) from 1 kg; standard wire from 5 kg. Custom diameters and tight tolerances are quoted per drawing.
