Overview
Corrosion resistant nickel wire in 0.025-10 mm diameters combines a face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure with high-purity nickel chemistry — the two properties that drive its corrosion behaviour, formability and weldability. Supplied in four grades — N4 (≥99.9% Ni+Co), N6 (≥99.5%), Ni200 (UNS N02200) and Ni201 (UNS N02201) — the wire is drawn on a dedicated nickel line and available from 1 kg for micro diameters. Samples are offered so the grade and surface can be verified before production quantities are committed.
Pure Nickel Wire vs Coated and Alloyed Wire
Solid pure nickel wire is homogeneous through the cross-section: there is no coating that can crack, chip or wear away in service, which is why its corrosion resistance holds after cutting, bending and welding. This differs from nickel-plated wire, whose protection depends on the plating layer, and from nickel alloy wire, which trades a different corrosion profile and higher cost for specific strength or heat-resistance targets. For media where corrosion resistance and predictable electrical behaviour matter, solid pure nickel wire is the material of choice.

Technical Details
What the FCC Structure Buys
Nickel crystallizes in a face-centered cubic (FCC) lattice, and that structure explains the wire's behaviour in the shop: multiple slip systems allow uniform plastic deformation, so the wire bends, coils and forms without cracking, and weld joints stay consistent along the spool. The FCC lattice is also the basis of the material's magnetic behaviour — nickel is ferromagnetic up to its Curie point of 358°C, a fact worth knowing for components placed near sensitive electronics.
Corrosion Resistance in Chemical and Marine Service
Pure nickel resists corrosion in reducing media, alkalis and many organic environments, which is why it appears in chemical processing equipment, heat exchangers, valves and pumps. The resistance is inherent to the metal rather than to a surface treatment, so edges, cut ends and weld zones keep the same profile as the as-drawn surface. For specific media, confirm operating temperature and concentration against your process conditions — the mill certificate records the actual lot composition.
Grade Spectrum: Purity, Carbon and Cost
Four grades cover the pure nickel series: N4 (≥99.9% Ni+Co) for the most demanding purity and research service; N6 (≥99.5%) for general industrial use; Ni201 (≥99.0%, C ≤0.02%) for low-carbon, welding-sensitive applications; Ni200 (≥99.2%, C ≤0.15%) for standard mechanical and electrical duty. Purity, carbon limit and price move together, so the grade is chosen against the application — not by habit.
Sample Validation Before Production
Samples let you check drawing quality, surface and weld behaviour before committing volume. N6/Ni200 samples are free (0.5 kg); N4/Ni201 samples are charged and refunded on the first order of 50 kg or more. Confirm grade, diameter and temper on the sample, then production runs from 1 kg (micro wire) or 5 kg (standard wire) on the same drawing line and inspection criteria.
Pricing
Wire is priced by grade, FOB USD/kg: N4 $420-480, Ni201 $350-390, Ni200 $340-380, N6 $300-340. Micro wire (≤0.05 mm) from 1 kg; standard wire from 5 kg. Custom diameters and tight tolerances are quoted per drawing.
