Overview
High purity nickel wire is ordered into India by grade and documentation, and both are settled before price is discussed. Four grades are drawn from 0.025 mm to 10 mm: Ni200 (UNS N02200, ≥99.2%), Ni201 (UNS N02201, ≥99.0%), N4 (NP1, ≥99.9% Ni+Co) and N6 (NP2, ≥99.5%), with carbon limits set per grade. Micro wire is ordered from 1 kg and standard wire from 5 kg, and EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates are issued for customs clearance and incoming inspection.
Four Grades, One Material: The Pure Nickel Family
The four designations on this page are commercial-purity nickel, and they leave one production line. Ni200 and Ni201 follow the UNS system, while N4 and N6 follow the GB system, and NP1 and NP2 are the domestic shorthand for the same two materials. Writing the shorthand "200" and "201" as Ni200 and Ni201 keeps the purity designations separate from alloy numbering systems.
Custom diameters and tolerances are produced to the drawing within the pure nickel wire range.
Key Strengths
Grade matrix: Ni200 and Ni201 under the UNS system and N4 and N6 under GB, each with its stated purity and carbon limit.
Corrosion and oxidation resistance for chemical processing, aerospace and electronics service.
Ferromagnetic response below 358°C for motors, transformers and magnetic components.
Mechanical values held at annealed tensile strength of ≥462 MPa with elongation ≥35%.
Export documentation matched to Indian import practice, issued with each shipment.
Technical Details
Grade Numbering: Ni200, Ni201, N4 and N6
The four designations are purity designations rather than alloy grades, and the numbering runs on two systems. Ni200 and Ni201 are UNS designations for commercial-purity nickel; N4 and N6 are the GB equivalents, with NP1 and NP2 as the domestic shorthand for the same two materials. None of the four carries a deliberate alloying addition, so what separates them is nickel content and carbon limit, and the certificate states the system used on the order. That keeps one material identifiable when customs and the buyer's inspection department read different document sets.
Choosing a Grade Against the Service Medium
Reducing media, alkalis and many organic environments sit inside the service range, and oxidizing acids sit outside it. Inside that range the grade follows the position: N4 where the highest purity is required, N6 for general industrial wire, Ni201 where low carbon protects weld quality, and Ni200 for standard mechanical and electrical service. Operating temperature and concentration are checked against the process before the grade is fixed.
Purity, Carbon and Price Across the Four Grades
All four designations sit in the Pure Nickel Series, and purity and carbon limit move together with price. N4 holds Ni+Co at ≥99.9% Ni+Co with carbon to 0.01%, N6 at ≥99.5% with carbon to 0.10%, Ni200 at ≥99.2% with carbon to 0.15% and Ni201 at ≥99.0% with carbon to 0.02%. The lowest-carbon designation is therefore not the highest-purity one, which is why welding-sensitive positions can specify Ni201 and pay less per kg for the property that decides the result.
Export Documentation for India Imports
Wire is supplied to ASTM B164 for Ni200 and Ni201 and to GB/T 21653 for N4 and N6, with export documentation to EN 10204 3.1, the inspection document that Indian importers request for nickel shipments. Each shipment can carry the mill test certificate, batch records and packing list matched to the order, so customs clearance and incoming inspection read one document set.

FAQ
What do the Ni200, Ni201, N4 and N6 designations mean?
One set is the UNS system and the other is the GB system, with NP1 and NP2 as the domestic shorthand for the same two materials.
Which grade fits a given service position?
N4 for the highest purity, N6 for general industrial wire, Ni201 where low carbon protects weld quality, and Ni200 for standard mechanical and electrical service. The certificate states the grade and the batch analysis of what was supplied.
What dimensions are available?
Diameters from 0.025 mm to 10 mm, in soft, hard or 1/2 hard temper. Custom diameters and closer tolerances follow the order drawing.
What is the minimum order quantity?
1 kg for micro wire at or below 0.05 mm, 5 kg for standard wire. N6 and Ni200 samples are free at 0.5 kg; N4 and Ni201 samples are charged and refunded against a first order of 50 kg or more.
What export documents are provided for India?
EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, batch records and packing lists matched to the order, so customs clearance and incoming inspection work from the same document set.
What is the delivery time to India?
Standard production ships in 7–15 days, small in-stock quantities in 3–7 days, and custom sizes in 15–30 days after the drawing is agreed. Sea and air freight are both available with tracking.
