Product Detail

High performance pure nickel wire with corrosion resistance, drawn from 0.025 mm to 10 mm in Ni200 (UNS N02200), Ni201 (UNS N02201), N4 and N6 grades. The wire is ferromagnetic with a face-centered cubic structure and is supplied in soft, half hard and hard temper. Free N6 sample, 1 kg micro-wire MOQ, ISO 9001 & SGS certified.

The material is built for corrosion service: a dense oxide film that blocks oxidation, stability in alkaline and reducing media, and predictable mechanical and electrical behaviour coil after coil. The N6 sample is free and micro wire starts at a 1 kg MOQ, so a grade can be verified before a production order is placed.

Solid Pure Nickel vs. Plated Wire vs. Heating Alloy: Three Different Products

"Nickel wire" covers three different products, and they are not interchangeable. This page supplies solid pure nickel wire: every atom through the section is nickel, which is why the crystal structure and the magnetic properties are stated. Solid nickel gives through-thickness chemistry, weld consistency and predictable corrosion behaviour. Nickel-plated steel wire is a steel core with a nickel coating; it costs less and fails where through-thickness corrosion or weld penetration matters. Nickel-chromium heating alloy wire is a high-resistance material for heating elements and a separate product line. Where a drawing specifies pure nickel wire, as a conductor, a corrosion-resistant lead or a structural wire, this is the specification.

Technical Details

Where the Performance Comes From

Purity is graded (Ni200 ≥99.2%, Ni201 ≥99.0%, N6 ≥99.5%, N4 ≥99.9% Ni+Co); corrosion resistance comes from a dense protective oxide film that forms in air and blocks further attack; and consistency comes from batch-level inspection of chemistry, diameter, surface and mechanical properties. The metal's structure, face-centered cubic and ferromagnetic with a Curie temperature of 358°C, is stable and predictable, which is what makes it a trusted material in aerospace and as melting stock for high-temperature alloy production.

Corrosion Profile: Media and Boundaries

Pure nickel wire resists oxidation and water vapour at high temperature, and holds against alkaline media (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, ammonia) and reducing chloride environments. The boundary: strong oxidizing acids such as nitric acid and hot concentrated sulfuric or hydrochloric acid attack nickel, so the medium, concentration and temperature should be evaluated before specifying. Within that media range, corrosion resistance supports long service in chemical and petrochemical environments.

Grade Selection: Ni200 Ni201 N4 N6

Ni201 (C ≤0.02%) is the low-carbon choice for wire that runs hot; Ni200 (≥99.2%) is the economical standard; N4 (≥99.9%) is specified where maximum purity matters; N6 (≥99.5%) covers general duty at the lowest cost. All four are commercial-purity nickel; the grade decision is purity, carbon and cost, and the mill certificate states the batch chemistry.

A Sample-First Path for New Suppliers

Before committing to production quantity, the wire can be verified on the buyer's own line: request the free N6 sample (0.5 kg), run a corrosion or weld test, and confirm the chemistry against the mill certificate. Production follows at 1 kg MOQ for micro wire or 5 kg for standard sizes, with batch-level inspection of composition, dimensions, mechanical properties and surface applied to the order as to the sample.

Quality Assurance

Every batch passes chemical composition analysis, dimensional measurement, mechanical property testing and surface inspection before release, and batch records accompany the shipment. For corrosion service, surface condition matters, and oxides and contaminants are the first failure points, so surface inspection is performed per spool on micro sizes. Export orders ship with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates.

Packaging & Delivery

Micro and fine wire is wound on spools and packed in carton boxes; larger diameters are supplied as coils in polybags or on spools as requested, with moisture- and oxidation-protected packaging. Delivery is 3-7 days for small in-stock quantities, 7-15 days for standard production, and 15-30 days for complex custom requirements confirmed against the drawing.

About the Factory

The sample route is designed so a grade can be tested before a production order: the N6 sample is free and the micro-wire MOQ starts at 1 kg. Behind that low entry point is a nickel-focused line, with melting, drawing, heat treatment, finishing and testing run in-house at DZX, founded in 2002 with ISO 9001 & SGS certified systems, 20+ years of experience, 50+ patents and 1,000+ product configurations shipped to 60+ export countries for 2,000+ partners.

FAQ

Q: Which corrosive media does this wire resist?
A: Alkaline media, reducing chloride environments and high-temperature oxidation and sulfidation. Strong oxidizing acids such as nitric acid and hot concentrated sulfuric or hydrochloric acid attack nickel, so the medium should be confirmed before ordering.

Q: Which grade should be specified?
A: Ni201 (≥99.0%, C ≤0.02%) for hot service; Ni200 (≥99.2%) as the economical standard; N4 (≥99.9%) where maximum purity is required; N6 (≥99.5%) for general duty. All four are commercial-purity nickel.

Q: What diameters, tempers and tolerances are available?
A: Round wire from 0.025 mm to 10 mm in soft, hard or 1/2 hard temper, with tolerances locked per drawing at order confirmation.

Q: How is the wire trialled before committing?
A: Request the free N6 sample (0.5 kg), run a corrosion or weld test, and verify the chemistry against the mill certificate before the production order is placed.

Q: What is the MOQ and sample policy?
A: Micro wire (≤0.05 mm) starts at 1 kg and standard wire at 5 kg. Samples are free for N6/Ni200 (0.5 kg); N4/Ni201 samples are charged and refunded on a first order of 50 kg or more.

Q: What is the delivery time and what documents ship with the order?
A: Small in-stock quantities ship in 3-7 days, standard production in 7-15 days, and complex custom requirements in 15-30 days after drawing confirmation. Export orders include EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates and batch test records.
